Wheel of Fortune#

▶

Participants see a wheel of 6 to 10 segments with the entire prize pool laid out on it: points, real activity prizes and, if the host wants one, a jackpot. Every segment has its chance printed on it, so nobody spins blind. One press of "Spin" and the wheel speeds up, slows down and creeps toward its segment while everyone watches the arrow. There are no empty outcomes: even without a prize a spin awards points, and they keep adding up from attempt to attempt. The server decides every spin, so the host never has to prove the draw was fair.

Quick facts#

  • Genre: luck game
  • Skills: luck - no reflexes or experience needed
  • Run length: one spin, 5-15 seconds including the animation
  • Entry barrier: none - a single button
  • Players compete on: points accumulated across all spins; prizes drop instantly from wheel segments

Who it suits#

  • Broad audiences with no gaming experience. There is nothing to master, so everyone plays - from teenagers to grandparents.
  • Giving away several prizes at once. Each segment can carry its own prize, and a claimed one dims on the wheel so everyone sees what is left.
  • Regular return visits. With repeat rules participants come back for a new spin every N minutes while their points keep growing.
  • Contests where transparency matters. The odds are printed on the segments and on a separate screen, and the server decides the outcome.

How participants play#

Action Method
Spin the wheel "Spin" button (from the keyboard - Enter / Space on the button)
Jump to the result "Skip" button while the wheel spins
Open odds "Odds" button
Open spin history "Spin history" button

One attempt is one spin, and it spends one token. There is no game over screen: participants spin while they have tokens and leave with the "Back" button.

Wheel segments#

The activity organizer configures from 6 to 10 segments. Each segment has:

  • points - always awarded, regardless of whether the segment also has a prize;
  • prize - optional, tied to an activity prize; once its copies run out, the segment dims and can no longer come up;
  • jackpot - a special kind of prize, set up the same way as a regular segment prize, but highlighted on the wheel with its own color. Once the jackpot is claimed, a "Jackpot already claimed" banner appears over the wheel.

Segments without a prize award points only. The wheel always has at least one such segment with no quantity limit, so there is still something to spin for after every prize is gone. A claimed segment does not disappear - it dims in place, so the wheel never shifts under the participant.

Odds#

The exact chance of each segment is shown right on the wheel and in a dedicated "Odds" screen - it's the same calculation, so the numbers never diverge from what an actual spin shows. The chance depends on the segment's weight: the higher it is, the more often the segment comes up. All segments look the same size; the weight, not the width, sets the chance. If a segment's prize runs out or the organizer temporarily disables the segment, its chance becomes zero and the freed share is spread across the remaining available segments in proportion to their weights.

Spin history#

The game shows a history of the participant's last 50 spins for this activity: which segment was hit, how many points were awarded, and which prize was won, if any.

Attempts#

How many spins a participant gets is defined by the activity repeat rules: with no rules there is exactly one spin, with the ⏳ timer one spin every N minutes, and with 🧲 magnets or 🔋 batteries for internal currency.

The game itself shows the token balance and the time until the next free spin, and marks unavailable options with the reason.

How the result is calculated#

The server resolves the entire spin: the client only sends a spin request and receives the already chosen segment, the stopping angle of the pointer, and the awarded points in return. Submitting your own result from the game is impossible. Points from all spins add up into the participant's total for the activity.

Repeating a request with the same action key returns the exact same result - a dropped connection or an accidental double tap never spends a second token or awards points twice.

Goal parameters#

Parameter Type Description
minScore number Minimum points accumulated across all spins

The score is verified against server-side data, not against whatever the game showed on screen.
